It’s not so long ago that ‘raising the roof’ quite literally meant making a building taller. But today it’s all about making some noise – and this year we want to shine the spotlight on your roof, in particular maintenance.

Give Your Roof the Once Over

When was the last time you took a good hard look at your roof, not just a cursory glance, but a steely-eyed once over? We are, of course, talking about a roof inspection, a stitch in time that really could save you nine. Take a look now, don’t procrastinate, and act on any faults. If you think of your roof as a piece of torn clothing, ‘one’ stitch now could repair it. Wait longer and the tear could become larger and take ‘nine’ to repair.  And we all know the bigger the job, the higher the repair bill!

We are, of course, talking about the snowball effect. A small leak gone unnoticed can quickly escalate from ‘just a leak’ to mould and damaged interiors. Annual roof inspections can catch issues early, giving you the opportunity to counter small problems.

• Uncleared debris places pressure on fittings, often causing spouting to sag and bow.

Interesting Fact: Iain McPhail, Director of DCM Roofing, is a qualified pilot who competes in aerobatics! It’s little wonder he has a head for heights and can handle a drone like a NATO fighter pilot!
